力量,作为一个全球领先的MALDI-TOF抛光工艺ogy, continuously invests in development and improvement of its instrument portfolio. As a result, this new "sirius" member of the MALDI Biotyper family has been launched in the scope of broadening research capabilities, including resistance detection applications.

Eigenschaften

Updated electronics | enabling further system improvements

The new Bruker MALDI Biotyper®sirius comprises the widely appreciated high capacity vacuum system of the MALDI Biotyper smart, as well as its fast 200 Hz smartbeam™ lifetime* laser.

Developments in the electronics have expanded the system’s capabilities to allow for positive and negative ion detection.

  • Lighter: only 75 kg / 165 lbs
  • Faster target exchange
  • LED strip to remotely observe system status
  • Positive/negative ion mode

All inherited, improved and new features of the MALDI Biotyper®sirius are held inside a true benchtop system of only 75 kg, allowing easy implementation in the lab. The system is fully compatible with existing MALDI Biotyper®software, libraries and consumables for microbial identification and beyond.

Daily laboratory life has been simplified by an LED strip on the front housing, conveniently allowing a visual system status check from a remote place in the lab.

* Lifetime meaning 7 years or 500 million shots, whichever comes first.

Positive/negative ion mode

Negative ion mode MALDI-TOF MS reveals the phosphoethanolamine modification of lipid A in colistin-resistant E. coli variants - With courtesy from Gerald Larrouy-Maumus, Imperial College, London-UK

Routine microbial identification is performed using positive ion mode only. The negative ion mode broadens the microbial research applications for the MALDI Biotyper®sirius, such as the analysis of lipids.

An exciting new MALDI-TOF lipidomics research topic is the rapid detection of colistin resistance related modifications to lipid A in colistin-resistant bacteria such as Acinetobacter baumanii¹ or Escherichia coli².

MALDI Biotyper® Library RUO

The principle behind identification of microorganisms with the MALDI Biotyper® (MBT) is the comparison of the mass spectrum of an unknown organism with a library of reference mass spectra.
Mycobacteria

MBT Mycobacteria RUO Module

The genus Mycobacterium includes the important pathogens of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTC) and the nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM). NTM are increasingly the cause of opportunistic infections among immuno-compromised patients. This trend and the rise of antibiotic resistance in this genus demand improved differentiation among mycobacterium species.
