NMR and Murphy's Law

Speaker:Clemens Anklin/Nicole Kruse

Date/Time:October 18, 2021, 15:00 – 16:00 EDT

We will be talking about things that can go wrong or will go wrong when doing NMR. Not all topics discussed will be dead serious. For example how do spectra look when your probes not tuned or then the pulse is not calibrated. Did you ever forget to lock the sample or pick the wrong solvent? Or have you ever received an error message and not known what to do? We will present a variety of NMR disasters and how to avoid and recover from them.

NMR of complex mixtures

Speaker:Amy Freund

Date/Time:November 08, 2021, 15:00 – 16:00 EDT

This webinar will focus on the analysis of mixtures such as urine, milk, fuel and even reaction mixtures. These mixtures are difficult to study because of overlap and the shear number of components. Becuase of these issues, it is sometimes easier to treat the NMR spectrum as a fingerprint, or to use tools more befitting large data projects than simple NMR spectral analysis. Join us to learn more.

Solid State NMR Tips and Tricks 4

Speaker:Jochem Struppe/Shane Pawsey

Date/Time:December 13, 2021, 15:00 – 16:00 EDT

The course will follow up on the previous Tips and Tricks session from 8/17/2020 and the session Tips and Tricks 2, and 3 from 2/22/2021, and 8/9/2021, respectively. We will discuss homonuclear correlation experiments using zero quantum and double quantum experiments at MAS rates between 5 and 111kHz.
